We are Russian Music Drama Youth Theater.
Our theater was established on a volunteer base in 1999 by Nikolay Cherkasov and Andrey Kartuzov.
In early 2003 Russian-Canadian Theatrical Community Centre was registered as a non-profit
charitable organization.
(Registered Charity N86450 2356RR0001).
We have about 30 teenagers and children in our theater, ranging from age 6 to 25.
Because we love the culture in which we have grown up !!!
We believe in its strength, in its both general human meaning and uniqueness.
We know that supporting it here in Canada, reviving and preserving
it would mean helping to bring its treasures to the common treasures of humanity where they belong.
It is also because we love our children. we know what a thick layer of otherwise
non-restorable richness they will discover through this activity.
Their participation within our theater will forever be with them.
It will become the rich cultural soil on which their relationships grow.
With the values developed in our theater they will overcome
the solely materialistic approach. An approach that often leads to the spiritual desert
which may be the reason,
our kids turn to drugs. They will acquire such dear memories that
they will surely attempt to light the same fire in their own specifically children act,
instead of adults.
So far the reaction of the audience is all the same: the children eyes grow with empathy and
compassion, adults with tears of joy at the sight of such theater in action,
a priest like a child amused with the life happening on he stage.
These are the gifts that we get and these gifts give us confidence.
We are doing the right thing! We are proud of ourselves !
We have a new home now in North York. Main intersection is Finch and Dufferin.
The exact address is 48 Alness Road.
We have rehearsals here and will perform here for youth and kids starting in September 2008.
The hall can accomodate about 120 sits. The stage size is 8m x 6m.
Welcome to our new home!
